The work-life balance is something that many entrepreneurs struggle to find. It’s easy to get wrapped up in work and let time with family and friends sit on the back burner. It’s also easy to allow emotional attachments and past wounds from our personal lives impact our productivity!

So how do you find the balance? And where do you begin?

Today on the blog, we’ll discuss setting boundaries at home and work – even if you are the boss and work from home – plus how we help our clients work through emotional barriers and find success. Now let’s get started!

Setting boundaries during non-working hours

One way to separate your personal and professional life is to set boundaries. Without clear boundaries, it can be easy to blur the lines. When personal issues start to creep into your work time, your productivity begins to suffer. Sometimes this happens without you even knowing it!

Here are a few ways you can set clear boundaries to protect your time during “off hours.”

  • Limit work communication. Depending on the nature of your job, set realistic expectations for how much work you will do during “off hours.” Then stick to these boundaries and don’t feel bad about it. It’s hard if our phone drives our business, and it’s always with us, so turn it on airplane mode so your brain can rest.
  • Spend time with people who aren’t connected to your business. Relaxing with family and friends outside of your business circle will help shift your mindset into “home” mode and allow you to focus on the things that you love that aren’t work-related.
  • Set boundaries with business friends. Many people form strong friendships with their colleagues; however, we encourage you to kick back and have fun with them when you’re not working!

Should I set boundaries at work?

If you share a lot about your personal life as part of your business strategy, then decide ahead of time what you want to share publicly and what you’d like to keep private. It can be tricky balancing this in our social media world, so having a plan is important.

However, If you are trying to keep your work life and personal life separate, try to limit how much of your personal life you discuss.

Get comfortable saying no.

For all of us doers, this next part might be hard to hear, but it’s important to identify when you’re overcommitting yourself. Get comfortable saying no. There are kind, honest, and firm ways to say no and protect your time. If you value your time, other people will too.

Working through the past

Distractions happening in your personal life can hold you back from stepping towards success in your business.

But here’s the deal: boundaries are like the cushion you can use AFTER you’ve addressed obstacles from your past that may be hindering your present.

Imagine the mega growth your business will experience if you worked through the personal things happening in your life!

Creating boundaries, establishing rhythms, and working through conflict and issues that arise in a healthy manner is essential to your business, not just surviving but also thriving.

What should I do next?

If you want to do more, make more, and achieve more in your business, you must first focus on your mindset. If you’re not sure what that looks like, we may be able to help. We have helped countless people address emotional barriers and personal life matters that are hindering their success experience, and they have seen tremendous breakthrough!

In fact, this is where Kristin Ostly’s superpower comes into play!

She’s an excavator of emotions and an instigator of inspired action. She loves to dig around and uproot the attachments people have to their stories, beliefs, and behaviors.

Nothing makes her happier than seeing the relief that comes over an individual when they feel the shifts that happen with the release of the emotional burdens these attachments have had on them.

The fun really begins when people start to see that now that the weeds and overgrowth of their past are gone, they have complete control over their thoughts, emotions, and in turn, actions. That is when true inspiration flows!!
